Gilgandra Community Portal: Informing a green space strategy
The challenge
Gilgandra Shire Council needed to engage residents across a large rural area to inform its Green Space Strategy. With communities geographically dispersed and many residents unable to attend traditional consultation events, Council needed an accessible way to capture local knowledge, experiences and priorities for parks and public spaces.
Our solution
One Engage designed and delivered an interactive online engagement portal that enabled residents to participate at a time and place that suited them.
The platform combined interactive mapping, location-based feedback tools, public comment summaries and private response options, creating a transparent and inclusive way for community members to share their views.
The outcome
The portal increased access to participation and generated high-quality, place-based insights to inform the Green Space Strategy. By removing barriers to engagement, Council gained a deeper understanding of how residents use, value and imagine the future of their parks and open spaces.
