Case study
Barangaroo Harbour Park: Using games to design parklands
The challenge
Traditional consultation methods often struggle to engage diverse audiences in planning, especially in complex areas like the Barangaroo Harbour Park project in Sydney. The team needed a more accessible and engaging way to gather meaningful input from thousands of visitors, reflecting real community values.
Our solution
We created an interactive park design, turning consultation into a simple, playful experience. Launched as a custom engagement hub, it attracted visitors, with more than 2,000 people designing their ideal park using drag-and-drop features like trees, paths, and play and water elements.
The outcome
Our custom-built digital hub became the central platform for engagement, turning complex project data into simple, visual content that was easy to understand and navigate.
In 2023, the interactive park design won a PRIA Award, recognising its innovation and excellence in community engagement.
